You could use a crock pot to cook your dinner which, as well as saving you time, will ensure that you are not spending all your time standing at the stove watching your dinner cook. One benefit of using the crock pot is that it will cost much less to run than a conventional cooker.
Most people assume that the crock pot is only useful for cooking hearty casseroles. But, contrary to popular opinion, the dishes that can be made are only limited by your imagination. If you can cook it in your traditional oven, you can cook it in the crock pot.
You could, for instance, put a pot roast into your crock pot with a little stock, turn the thermostat to medium and let it cook. No need to stay in the house – just go off out and when you come home your roast will be ready to serve.
Another great use for the crock pot is for making a great pasta and vegetable soup. Prepare a good selection of vegetables by cutting into inch chunks; put them all into your crock pot with some stock. Then when you get home simply put the cooked vegetables in a food processor, leaving aside some of the vegetables to provide a bit of texture to your soup.
After you have processed the soup, add some cooked pasta and the vegetable chunks. Pour into warmed bowls, add a swirl of cream if you like and serve with some fresh crusty bread and there you are; you have a delicious warming soup that was quick and easy to make.
You can stew beef and cook vegetables without boiling away all the nutrients to make delicious family meals. The crock pot is invaluable for cooking that all-in-one meal and without all the hassle. You would simply prepare your vegetables and meat (or whatever...), put it all in the crock pot, switch it on and you can go out for the afternoon.
When you get home, your meal will be ready to serve. You will not have to worry about anything burning to a crisp because the crock pot cooks slowly without the intense heat of a traditional oven.
The cleaning up after your meal is so much easier, you simply wash out the one pot and your plates and you are done. There are no saucepans to scrub.
Crock pot cooking is a great solution for the busy family and whilst you can not use it to bake or roast food, it does come in handy for the days when you will be busy all day and would prefer not to start cooking when you get home.
Just prepare everything before you go out, put everything in your crock pot then simply switch it on when you are leaving the house. When you get home, your mouth watering hot meal will be all ready for you to eat.
